The choice is up to the EMO
Emo is really a type of music that has a fan following. Emo fans have a very specific way of dressing, behaving, talking, and wearing their hair. Pretty much everybody has seen someone who looks Emo, but may have not realized it at the time. According the world of Emo, anyone can become Emo if they truly want it, but it’s very hard to be partially Emo or not one hundred percent dedicated to being Emo because those who are fully Emo will know the difference.
Emo Hair Styles: Jet-Black Hair That Covers the Right Eye
The most popular way to wear an Emo style is to dye the hair jet black. After it is dyed dark enough, it must be long enough so that the bangs can fall right in front of the person’s right-hand side of the face. Basically, no other person should be able to see the person’s right side of the face including the right eye. The Emo person with the hair on their face will use their left eye to see and read. Occasionally, the hair will be swept out of their face so that something can be seen with the right eye, but this is rare.
Greasy or Clean… The Choice is Up to the Emo

In this case, the hair can be washed as normal. It’s up to the Emo whether or not to don the greasy or clean look. Sometimes, the choice is determined by the hair style of the Emo’s favorite musical band.
Where to Get an Emo Hair Style
Emo hair styles can be cut by professional hair stylists, but Emo often cut their own hair. Or, an Emo will have another Emo cut his or her hair. It’s also common to have highlights in Emo style hair cuts, so those can also be added by a professional or by a friend. The most common highlight colors for this outrageous style are red or purple.
Thin Hair Looks the Best
It shouldn’t be very hard for anyone who wants an Emo hair style to achieve one. Basically, there are four steps to take in order to achieve “the look.” First, as discussed earlier, the hair must be dyed jet black. Second, (this is optional), the back of the hair can be dyed blonde. Third, the bangs have to be long enough to be swept from the left side of the head to cover the right side of the face and right eye. Hair gel can be used to make sure the hair/bangs stay in place. And, fourth, (this is optional) the back of the hair can be teased so that it stands upwards in a kind of messy or spiked fashion.
Overall, the Emo style works better on people who have thin hair, so for a person with thick hair, it may be beneficial to thin the hair before creating Emo styles. Luckily, there are a few Emo hair style variations, so as long as the general look can be achieved, any person can successfully wear this style if they so choose
