Girls' hair styles are often more complex than boys'. You can start playing with your daughter’s hair styles at a young age, adding bows or other hair accessories to babies as young as six months.

For young boys, hairstyles are usually not an issue until they turn 13 and are more socially aware of trends and what to fit in more. This makes the job of parents much easier as we can keep their hairstyles sweet and simple. Boys' hairstyles will usually range in three styles with some different variations. These are the crew cut or spike, the comb down, and the side sweep. Each boys hairstyle has it's own looks depending on hair length and how the hair is styled.
A boys first hair cut was once a major step in growing up. There was some difference of opinion among 19th century mothers as to when a boy's hair should be cut, before or after he was breeched. This might occur anywhere from 3 to 5 years of age, although some boys wore long hair much longer. The first hair cut is no longer such a major event, but it still very important. A modern boy generally gets his first hair cut at about 2 years of age.
A baby' s hair is usually very fine. If the kid' s hair tends to be thicker and coarse, it will show even as a toddler. Fine hair can only be trimmed around the edges away from the baby' s eyes and face. So that whichever way it blows during playtime or naptime, it will flat neatly and not disturb. A soft baby comb or fingers can do this job. Sometimes kids experience fears when taken to a salon for having haircuts and trims. It is essential to make the small child comfortable when getting a hair cut done.
